Fracture of the Fibular Aspect of the Lower Tibial Epiphysis
نویسنده
چکیده
Approximately 3,500 new fractures are seen annually at The Royal Victoria Hospital. Of these approximately 10 per cent., or three hundred, are fractures of the ankle. Since 1946 only thirty cases of this particular fracture have been recorded, giving an occurrence of 1: 1750 or .005 per cent. of all fractures, or 1: 150, that is .65 per cent. of ankle injuries. Age: All occurred between the ages of 13 and 19 years, with a mean age of 251 years.

Proximal Tibial Epiphysis Injury (Flexion Type, Salter–Harris Type 1)
INTRODUCTION Fractures of the proximal tibial epiphysis rare. It has been estimated that fractures of the upper tibial epiphysis account for 0.5-3.1% of all epiphyseal injuries. Who had no neurovascular deficit, with fixed extension deformity at the left knee was treated early with closed reduction techniques. CASE REPORT We present a case of a 16-year-old boy who while playing cricket on the...
متن کاملOutcome of Distal Both Bone Leg Fractures Fixed by Intramedulary Nail for Fibula & MIPPO in Tibia
Background: Fractures of the distal third of the tibia are mostly associated with a fibular fracture that often requires fixation. The preferred treatment of distal tibial fracture is the minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) procedure. However, there are no clear cut guidelines on fixation of the fibular fracture and currently most orthopedic surgeons use a plate osteo...
متن کاملFracture-separations of the Distal Tibial Epiphysis
Three cases of a rare complication ofSalter Type II fracture-separations of the distal tibial epiphysis are described. Interposition of the anterior tibial neurovascular bundle between the displaced epiphysis and the lower tibia prevented reduction and, in two patients, the blood supply to the foot was compromised. Open reduction and internal fixation resulted in a satisfactory outcome in each ...
متن کاملPosterior Hip Fracture -Dislocation Associated with Ipsilateral Intertrochantric Fracture; a Rare Case Report
Hip dislocation occurs when the femur does not break and the force is transmitted towards the hip joint leading to a posterior dislocation of the femoral head with or without posterior acetabular fracture. We present the case of a 26 year old patient involved in motor vehicle accident. Clinical and imaging (radiography, CT) examination revealed an intertrochanteric fracture associated with ipsi...
متن کاملHindfoot Valgus following Interlocking Nail Treatment for Tibial Diaphysis Fractures: Can the Fibula Be Neglected?
Purpose. We evaluated whether intramedullary nail fixation for tibial diaphysis fractures with concomitant fibula fractures (except at the distal one-third level) managed conservatively with an associated fibula fracture resulted in ankle deformity and assessed the impact of the ankle deformity on lower extremity function. Methods. Sixty middle one-third tibial shaft fractures with associated f...
